Mads Kjoeller Damkjaer

Mads brings over 15 years experience as a creative innovator, entrepreneur and practical problem-solver, he’s delivered transformation strategies for some of the world’s leading brands and has invented new products, services and business models from the ground up. As a serial entrepreneur and angel investor, Mads has first-hand experience in building successful enterprises and, as a result, a very thorough understanding of bridging design and business.

He was listed in Denmarks Top 100 Business people under 35 in 2010, included in the Danish Financial Newspaper, Børsen, as one of the most influential design thinkers in Denmark in 2013, Awarded by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation for the effort of bridging creativity and business in 2011, two of his companies featured in Monocle as some of Denmarks most influential cultural initiatives in 2012, twice in a row awarded with the growth award "Gazelle", he was same year proclaimed as the Name of the Year by the Danish Magazine Bo Bedre, he was granted the innovation scholarship by AVT and Maersk, granted the Grunfoss talent grant, awarded probably the most prestigious cultural award in Denmark; the Talent Award by The Danish Design Counsel in 2012 and awarded with the Rising Star Award in New York by the Danish Counsel in 2013.

Among Mads´ many awards, he is the recipient of Red Dot Awards, iF design awards, communication iF, Core 77 packaging awards, Index: Top Nominated, Innovation award AfPP, Brand New Design Awards, Innovation Award Danish Commerce, Creative Circle and D&AD awards.

Recognized for design excellence in museums and markets world-wide. Mads´work has been exhibited and featured around the world in Shanghai, London, Milan, Sao Paolo, Helsinki, Tokyo and New York at museums such as Cooper Hewitt National Museum.

Mads has extensive experience within creative direction & experience design - with a holistic approach, is strong using design thinking to enhance business and secure implementation of concepts. He is a strong communicator and ambassador for design thinking, user driven innovation and the bridging of design & Business. With years of experience within executive business management for C levels, he has proven solid leadership skills and motivational abilities and is a dynamic leader, evangelist and builder with a proven ability to work with team leaders across all disciplines in multi-office creative services agencies and business management consultancies. He is experienced leading aggressive studio growth that results in a sustainable, stable business, he has a proven track record of success with client management - new business wins, organic client growth and innovative partnership models where employees grow and prosper, trough coaching and growth of the team members abilities and competences to fulfill their full potential.

Mads has 10+ years of comparable management experience including new business development, expansion, P&L management ​experience, stakeholder analysis and strong ability to lead process, while demonstrated experience developing strategy for​ new business development to out innovate competitors.

As a designer, Mads holds an MA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Strategic Industrial Design and a BA in product design, specialized in LED technology at Denmarks Technical University, Department of Photonics Engineering. Prior to that he was trained as an interaction and UX designer at KTS college of multi media design.
Within the academic paths of business and strategy Mads holds a CBA in International Business Administration from AVT Business School, a certificate with Distinction in Competitive Strategy from Ludwig-Maximillian University in Munich, an Executive Education Certificate in American Business Perspectives at Yale Business School, New Haven, Connecticut. He is certified project manager, and studied an MBA course in Operations at MIT, Boston and has received a certificate in Leadership from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Within human science Mads has studied Organizational Behavior courses at Harvard and is studying Organizational Analysis at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California.

Mads is an examiner at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has teached at The Royal College of Arts, London. He regularly judges, speaks and writes on the topics of entrepreneurship, technology, design thinking, open innovation, and industry disruption.
